This event was about more than just networking—it was a real, necessary conversation about resiliency, innovation, and collaboration. Together, we explored the critical work happening in and around Fort Meade and the powerful ways that organizations across sectors are coming together to serve those who serve us.
At the heart of the event was the incredible work of the Fort Meade Alliance (FMA) and its Foundation, which continues to lead the way in supporting the military-connected community in Maryland. From workforce development and mental health to educational equity and community building, their efforts are expansive, targeted, and deeply impactful.
One of the most innovative programs discussed last night is a unique partnership that places local teachers inside cybersecurity companies—giving educators a first-hand look at what students need to succeed in high-demand fields like cyber and tech. It’s a brilliant example of workforce development starting at the classroom level.
We also heard about the development and growing impact of the Fort Meade Education and Resiliency Center—a community hub built to support service members, veterans, and their families with access to vital resources, from mental health and financial counseling to transition support and education. It’s more than a facility. It’s a lifeline.
A particularly moving moment from the evening came from Colonel Rothstein who shared his personal journey through military service—openly discussing the toll it can take on mental health and the critical importance of addressing those challenges head-on. He spoke not only as a veteran but as a husband, a father, a leader, and an advocate, emphasizing the need to break the stigma surrounding mental health in the military.
His message was clear and resonant: Resiliency isn’t just about bouncing back. It’s about having the resources, the support, and the community to move forward. It’s about asking the hard questions, listening deeply, and being willing to meet people where they are.
The conversations sparked during the event weren’t just inspirational—they were a call to action. Attendees left with a shared sense of purpose: to continue investing in partnerships, ideas, and programs that create lasting change for military families across our region.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this event. By continuing to listen, connect, and collaborate, we can ensure that service members, veterans, and their families have the resources they need to thrive—today and in the future.
